Student Paper Award

We are very pleased to announce the MARE Best Student Paper Award 2017

The prize for this contest will be a

  • A public award at the conference dinner;
  • Free registration for the People and Sea conference in 2019
  • Special support to publish your paper in the journal Maritime Studies (MAST)
  • A book voucher of € 1000,- sponsored by Springer publishers

Potential contestants must submit their fully developed papers on Friday June 1st 2017. The word limit of the paper is 7000 words (excluding references), abstract 200 words.

Eligibility: 1) the student must be enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student at the time of the MARE Conference; 2) the paper must be written by the student solely and cannot be co-authored; 3) the paper will be presented during the MARE conference.

The papers will be evaluated by an independent committee based on the following criteria:

  1. Originality of approach or insights
  2. Methodological rigor

III. Quality, concision and clarity of presentation

  1. Significance, relevance, and timeliness of the topic
  2. Adequate format and use of references
  3. Appropriate messages/conclusions for the People and the Sea audience
